Helping our students find their potential
Our theme based curriculum at Key Stages 1 to 3 is designed to meet National Curriculum coverage for the arts and foundation subjects. Teachers begin with the child as a starting point and tailor lessons and activities to meet individual needs within any given class of students. Practical sessions with lots of hands-on activities are carefully planned to develop and apply literacy and numeracy skills in a context of fun cross-curricular lessons.
Trips and visits into the local community slot in with broad topics which can be individualised for a specific learning style or need.
Learning in this way provides a joined up approach for young people who struggle with a curriculum plan which segments subjects into stand alone lessons. With a themed approach, learning is linked as much as possible and provides more opportunity for retention which is an area in which a lot of our young people struggle.
