Helping our students find their potential
All children can benefit from the exercise, energy release, and pure enjoyment of playing sports and this is no different from our children here at Sandgate.
At Sandgate we have discreet sessions of PE and Swimming at the local Leisure Center as well as taking part in local Disability tournaments at neighboring schools. We offer an after schools Sports club and lunch time clubs. Participating in sports can help instill a sense of self-confidence and improve skills in relationship building and working as part of a team.
‘Wheels for all’ is accessed regularly giving students an opportunity to try out adapted cycles and provides exercise and enjoyment. An annual Sports Day encourages participation at all levels and is totally inclusive. Each year a number of our students take part in ‘Swim Safe’ organised at Windermere Lake which builds on the children’s knowledge of water safety and swimming ability.
